Atopic Dermatitis:
The Patient's Perspective

Symptoms of Atopic Dermatitis

The symptoms of atopic dermatitis - inflammation, redness and pronounced pruritis - often are made worse by a "vicious cycle" that develops when inflamed skin is scratched, making the skin even more inflamed and itchy, which causes patients to scratch more. This cycle can be further accentuated by secondary infections.
